The hope is that two people who care about each other can become interdependent. They do not become totally dependent or independent but they both have the support of each other and the space to grow in their own way. Both people must feel that their desires, wishes, aspirations, talents, intelligence and contribution are valued by the other. Both should feel encouraged by the other to pursue their very selves.
In couple therapy we begin with communication and understanding the other. Therapy may deepen within this context and lead to explorations into the meaning of being together and life itself.
